Andrew Blotky, Head of Internal Communications

Andrew Blotky is currently the global head of internal communications at Facebook.  Before joining Facebook in 2013, he was the Director of Legal Progress, the legal policy and communications program at the Center for American Progress, a leading progressive Washington, DC-based think tank and advocacy organization. At American Progress, he directed the Center’s work around legal policy issues, including judicial nominations and constitutional interpretation.  Also, from 2011-2013, he was a visiting lecturer at Stanford University's Washington, D.C. program, where he taught an undergraduate course on the role of nonprofits and advocacy organizations in the political process. 

 

Prior, Blotky served as the program manager at the Wyss Foundation, where he directed the foundation’s progressive infrastructure and legal policy programs, as well as the foundation’s immigration and poverty alleviation programs.   From 2003 – 2006 Blotky was the communications director for U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and for U.S. Rep. Jim Turner (D-Texas).  Blotky also worked in the White House Office of Presidential Speechwriting in the Clinton Administration.

 

Blotky has served on the national board of directors of the American Constitution Society and the Stanford University Board of Trustees Committee on Academic Policy, Planning and Management. 

 

Blotky received his B.A. degree in political science with honors in international security studies from Stanford University and his law degree from Stanford Law School.  He is a member of the California State Bar.
